There is an alternative fence on the course at fence 9, which comprises two vertical fences with a narrow pillar in the middle and a pillar at each end. A rider jumps the left hand alternative and hits it quite hard but it does not fall. However, the knock causes the middle pillar to rock and the top pole on the right hand side of the alternative falls.
